Why not base your use/non-use of a plugin based on features and application for your usage?
I don't see any plugins out there stamped "jQuery Official Plugin"... need something done, there's probably 20+ different plugins out there that will do it.... As for TableSorter... i use it pretty extensively, and the users of my site love it....
