That forum is absolutely inaccessible for blind users which use a screen reader. They can't even create an account on it, so it is a million times worse than the mailing list for some users.

Zoho has had email notifications working for forum.jquery.com as of a few weeks ago. You can subscribe to get email updates on - specific subforums - specific threads - all posts by a particular author(s) It's quite nice.
