Gentlemen,

These changes were made to the staging server.  Before they can be moved to the Production server, they should be checked and tested thoroughly.

Change #4 deals with article keyword searches.  The US Engineers will not be of much use in testing this.  This needs to be tested by Nihongo-literate engineers.  So, would someone in Tokyo please test it and give us an OK sign so that we know to implement the change on the Production server.

Change #5 is in regards to an error message that comes up when executing getCategoryTree.  I think this issue was initiated by Carlos, and he should be the person to validate this.  Carlos, can you please take a look at this on the staging server and give us an OK sign if it is okay.

It seems that the best person for moving the changes over is Charlie, but I would like to encourage the Engineers in Japan to participate in that process.  When we're ready to move the changes, let's have a brief conversation with Charlie on how these kinds of things are done.

Ken, do we need to notify you before, during or after the move?

Regards to everybody,

Marco

Marco,

Welcome back.

Attached are the word documents that describe the changes.
The gist: change 4 stores articles in the articles table, and generates an intermedia index against the text column.

change 5 basically spilts the getCategoryTree function into 2 parts: 1 to build the tree and maintain the tree when category changes occur, and the other just retrieves the data from the tree.  This change eliminates one of the error messages that Carlos was seeing on the logs.

There is also just some table deletions that are not used.

Charlie,

What are changes 4 and 5?  What was requested and who originated it?

Sorry, I just got back from vacation and have no recollection of changes 4 and 5, and what they are about.

Regards,
-Marco

Marco and all,

Just following up on changes 4 and 5 that were implemented on the dev box - are there any problems?  If they are satisfacory let me know when you want them implemented on the production box.

I've attached the summary documents for both changes.  There have been some minor additions to change 5.

Thank you all.

Charlie
