This is actually a problem that occurs with the jikes compiler which is the
default compiler. You can change your compiler to javac and this should no
longer happen.

Hi all,
Usually when we bumped into the 'Bad Magic Number' error (it happened
sometimes in development), all we've got to do is to stop the Jrun server,
clear all every compiled JSP files (in the WEB-INF/jsp folder), and then
restart the server. Solved (well, not entirely true... :)
But after we deploy the system, we've got a pile of bad magic number errors!
It is not acceptable to restart the server every half an hour in a
production server.
Does anybody know what caused the bad magic number? how do we debug it since
it happened quite rarely?
help, please... ;)
Budi
