Hi:

First let me apologize if I have offended anyone. I admit that when I wrote,
it was after hours of frustrating work trying to get the multi-homing to
work. This gets frustrating because your not really getting projects done
and hours are going by. But none the less, my point should be well
considered by those considering the technology. I have set up on many
occasions all types of servers and networks and firewalls and have a few
years of programming web applications. I mention this to only point that I
am not exactly green when it comes to this stuff and when I have so much
trouble, I think (hope!) that it is representative of the general developers
out there.

One of my primary functions is to evaluate software and platforms in
general, stability is important but so is ease of use. Good web application
developers cost a lot up here and especially those with Java/JSP
capabilities. So clients don't want their very expensive programmers
spending days trying to solve issues that the other platform does not have
(while still in early beta release! Maybe it will get worse with the final
release.. ;) )

Back to Jrun, it seems to have a lot going for it on paper. It well
presented and their is a lot of documentation. But still have not be able to
get it to work. Again to set up the server and to connect to the web server,
run the demo-app is not a problem but to actually route the request to your
own application is still something that is not working. I am supposed to
examine this technology in terms of actual use but I can't get to it yet
because of the problems of just setting it up. So my ass is grass if I say
Jrun is great (or any other product) and it worth spending $5k because it
makes life easier than other cheaper or free products and then the other
developers have all kinds of problems.
