Excellent sleuth work, Vic. I had noticed that point about the duplicate
mapping in your last email to me directly, and I was going to respond, but
you caught it first. Good work!
So, to summarize, you can't have an application with the same mapping in two
different JRun servers.
Also, the docs are being upgraded as we speak. And--HEAR THIS--JRun 3.1
(currently in Beta) will feature automated adding/removing of JRun servers
via the JMC. Woo-hoo!
Best,

Subject: solved!
Hello,
The problems I was experiencing (404 errors) when adding new JRun servers
were due to a conflict with the "default-app" URL mappings between default
server and my new server. I had been thinking that this may be a problem,
however, due to the very misleading information in the setup guide, I never
removed the duplicate mapping from my new server's local.properties file.
Specifically, page 57 in the ACG tells you to create 'EACH' new JRun server
using the instructions in the setup guide. Step "b." on page 89 in the setup
guide states:
"Remove applications other than the default-app in the Web Applications
Settings section."
This to me implies that the default-app may be needed for some reason by the
new JRun server you are trying to create. Allaire folks, please update your
documentation to specifically state that if you choose to leave default-app
in your new JRun server (as instructed to do so), to make sure the URL
mapping is different in local.properties since havoc can arise with other
apps and servers.
I would like to thank again everyone who helped me out with this. I hope I
can be of help to you as well.
cheers,
Vic
