No, you're not being nit-picky. You're correct--if you have the right level
of separation, then you can use the same mapping. It just depends on the
setup, but most default configs (not involving multi-hosting, etc.) will
require unique mappings.

Actually, you can if the JRun servers are connected to different Web 
servers. At least this is what I'm doing and I'm not having any 
problems. Sorry to be nit picky and maybe I'm jsut coming in on mid 
conversation, but am I missing something here???
