the solution was to locate the httpd.config file after running the
wsconfig (as described in JRun documentation)

open the httpd.config file and look at the last bit of code.

If your "#JRun Settings" section looks like this:

     AddHandler jrun-handler .jsp .jws

That would explain it.  It should look like below.

     AddHandler jrun-handler .jsp .jws .cfm .cfml .cfc
