Hi,

I am new to JSch and I am in process of evaluating it and came across
this thread, which kind of resonated with some of the general questions I had
regarding this project.

I was wondering if Martin actually meant "JSch X":
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jschx
which states, and I quote:
"This is a fork of the JSch project (Java Secure Channel) which fixes bug
1849771 (infinite loop when password is incorrect). It is hoped that the JSch
author will incorporate this fix into the official JSch project."

As I am evaluating the JSCH project, I noticed that there is more activity on
the mailing list than on the SF forums, where "Shoe54" is active. I am
wondering if this fork is the result of some lack of communication, since I
noticed that ymnk seems to be absent from the SF hosted JSch forums?

This brings me to my questions, which I hope can help me understand the way the
project is run a little better.
+ Is the bug tracker in SF used at all in the active development of JSch? I am
assuming not as the release notes, don't cross reference any bug numbers.
+ If not what is the best way to report bugs?
+ Is JSch open to contributions from others than the JCraft folks?
+ If yes, what's the way patches should be submitted?

I am truly interested in JSch, but hope I can understand the open source model
used a little better.

Thanks,

Florian

||By chance I discovered today that an "inofficial branch of JSch"
|||has recently (Jan.21) been added as a new sourceforge project:
||http://sourceforge.net/projects/jschb/
||I'm pretty surprised that I'm not aware of the bug they claim
||to be fixed. Also, the project maintainer ("Shoe54") seems
||quite anonymous.
||Does anybody know what's going on there?
|
|I don't know about it.
