The problem with writing a Chrome extension is that anybody who wants to try out your code will have to go to the hassle of installing it as an extension in Chrome. The beauty of JavaScript is that anyone can run your code just by visiting a web page.
I bet if you wrote something small in browser-based JavaScript you'd get a lot more help from people.
