It only works on audio tracks. Haven't found a way to insert a send directly on a midi track yet. In order to set a send on a midi track, I have to route the midi tracks output to an audio track (in the case of inserting soft synths) and then on the midi out audio track I can then insert the send. Could this be your problem? Try inserting sends on only audio tracks and let us know how it turns out.

I've found that the Sends don't always pop up when you are focused on cdertain fields, but will pop up when you are focused on other fields. don't know why. Let me know how that works.
