Well, I agree.

Let me try to get my point across a little more constructively.

I have been monitoring this list for some time, and for the most part a lot
of good info/questions are sent.

Unfortunately, it seems lately that two things have occurred:
 a) the volume of messages is way up
b) a lot of those messages have to do with setting up particular
environments, people having
problems using related products with JSP and the like

Clearly I am not the first to notice a) or comment on it. A digest was
recently suggested by
someone, and I agree with them that it is becoming tedious to wade through
the sheer volume of messages sent.

I think besides a digest, it would be useful if a newsgroup existed that
archived the JSP-INTEREST maillist, so that some people, like myself, could
browse it at will instead of
having it dominate their inbox.

Besides the sheer volume of messages, it seems to me that there are two
categories of discusssions that occur quite frequently, those that discuss
JSP from a design-level like the philosophical discussions arguing
scriptlets or tags, and those that discuss it from an implementation level,
generally people having problems with one particular environment or another.

I wish I could just be privy to the first set of discussions, because I am
not interested in the environment problems of others. Other people may be,
and that is fine. I just wish there were a
seperation so that I could focus on the discussions that are important to
me.

Let me close by saying that I think I am not alone in sharing the sentiment
that it is difficult to glean useful information from this list, which seems
to me to detract from the intent of the list in the first place.
