Paul,
JSP is a server-side technology, it generally does it's work generating
the HTML that is sent to the client browser and handling the HTTP
requests that are sent back. None of the JSP "code" is executed on the
browser as such.
Client-side HTML form validation is usually implemented with JavaScript
embedded in the HTML page. Of course, you could generate the text of
those JavaScript functions from a JSP bean that acts as a sound of
validation factory.
