As a prior PB/VB programmer, with no C/C++ experience, I found the
Roberts/Heller Java 1.1 Certification Study Guide (ISBN:0782120695) the perfect
study aid. It doesn't seem to cover everything, and the sample questions are
easier than the actual exam, but several of us passed on the first attempt using
only this book.

Pass rate is 30 - 40% - ie, 60+ percent fail. They ask some detailed questions
on areas you may not be familiar with, even though you have several years
of Java programming experience. For example, given 8 possible TextArea
constructor calls, identify the 4 that are valid. If you get 3 out of 4, it's
still wrong. Ditto for Java Keywords, bit shifting, ...

I'd recommend studying the objectives at Sun Education's site.

I'd also recommend our JCertify product. It's an exam simulator and interactive
training tool.

Both JCertify 2.0 (Java 2 platform objectives) and JCertify 1.1 (JDK 1.1 exam
objectives) are available by selecting the "purchase here" link at:
