agreed. with servlet 2.2 compliant engines we could
do the following with the url you've provided:
/news/* -> /news.jsp
an inbound uri as follows:
http://localhost:8080/news/1532
will map to /news.jsp and provide a PATH_INFO value of "/1532"
note: i'm pretty sure i got the slashes placed correctly
i believe you'll be pretty happy with this feature.
the problem i have with this feature is when folks
consider mapping "/*" to a jsp (or servlet). unless
the site is very "topic specific" the amount of overloaded
coding that will be necessary is boggling.
your example, on the other hand, i can readily digest.
