IBM has some very useful white papers and other discussion about the architecture
of web based applications on their Developer Connection web site, in the "Web
Architecture" section (imagine that :-)
http://www.ibm.com/developer/web (then check out the Library section)
These articles are well worth reading even if you're not using WebSphere and other
IBM products.
