An approach to dealing with this kind of filtering is being discussed in the
context of the next version of the servlet specification. This work is being done
under the Java Community Process, as JSR 53. You can go to
<http://java.sun.com/jcp> to get more information about this JSR.
In the mean time, the suggested workarounds are needed if you want your solution to
be portable across servlet containers.
