Besides which is the conceptual problem: why send code to a software client
but not trust the software user with the same code? If you trust the client,
should you not trust the user?

If you mean to protect your HTML & Javascript source, give it up. That part
of your site may as well be freeware. If you seek to block the view for
security reasons, such as hidden form elements or code comments which pose a
security risk, reevaluate your security model. No secure data should ever
reside in HTML source.
