Don't use LONG, unless you are on an old unsupported version of Oracle and
can't upgrade.
LONGs are stored inline and make for poor performance if they are large and
you ever do full tablescans.
Instead, use LOBs (either BLOB or CLOB) and the code to load those can be
cribbed from http://technet.oracle.com
