My index.jsp doesn't have a header.
The other jsp to access this variable only has a useBean header.
Isn't it true that when declaring a variable with <! it acts as a session
variable.

what is the header of your jsp ?
You also use the getAttribute of HttpSession when you want to retrieve your
params.
