Iam assuming you are trying to get the "loginFail" variable is that correct?
are you using the session.getAttribute("loginFail")?
NOw if the variable you are trying to reach is userInserted, of course is
undefined ( not visible ) in any other JSP. You need to put that variable
in a session or attached it to the request object,

Subject: Defining variables in index file

Hi all!

Why do I get an compile time error in the following situation.

A variable is defined in my index.jsp file like this:
<%
session.setAttribute("loginFail","false");
%>
<%! boolean userInserted = false; %>
<html>
<head>

when I try to reach this variable from another jsp file it says that the
variable is not defined.

/nico
