If you just want JSP and Servlet (no EJBs which require an appserver)
and you want to get started fast, I would recommend LiteWebServer from
Gefion Software, http://www.gefionsoftware.com/LiteWebServer/
It's a pure Java web server with build in support for JSP and Servlets.
You're up and running within minutes.
I'd recommend you start here and move along as you find out more what
you need.
(I hope you have noticed that you can run Tomcat in stand-alone mode,
without the need for Apache.)
