This is a topic that really confuses me.
I use tomcat or jrun separatelly without even making use of Apache. I guess
they both simulate a web server right??? Or wrong???
I use Apache just to run my cgi scripts (perl for example). I do not know if
tomcat or Jrun support cgi scripts, do they???
I never integrated Apache with tomcat or jurun, and I wonder how I would do
that, and why?
Can some expert explain this architecture of webservers and app servers,
their roles and etc etc etc...
When people say "Apache" is simply a web server, I wonder what is the role
of "a simply webserver".
I do appreciate explanations on this
Thanks
Sio

Hi Sio,
Yes, Apache does not support JSP/Servlet. It's just simply a web server,
not an app server. And it's been around for so many years already
(time-tested). So I guess some would just download an app server that
supports JSP/servets and integrate it to Apache. And I read somewhere in
the Tomcat docs that Tomcat is slow in serving static pages.
