Andrew Jaquith commented on JSPWIKI-504:
----------------------------------------

I support re-working the default look. The current one is fine, but it's a bit
sparse and not very modern looking.

One thing to keep in mind is that the 2.x JSP layer is being slowly ripped out
and replaced with Stripes-enhanced JSPs. That should not affect the CSS at all,
but know that certain aspects of the default templates *will* change.

In particular, you should assume that templates/default/DefaultLayout.jsp will
be the template that everything in 3.0 will ultimately inherit its looks from.
So, if you have structural changes you want to make, make them there.

JSPs that will almost certainly be retired in 3.0 will be
templates/*/admin/AdminTemplate.jsp, templates/*/EditTemplate.jsp, and
templates/*/ViewTemplate.jsp. They are still there for backwards compatibility,
for now. But they will vanish sooner or later.

> Folks, I'm kinda tired of our old look. I would like to propose that we
> retire the old, plain look (which looks very HTML 2.0) to an optional skin,
> and adopt a completely new default look to signify the milestone marker to a
> new life under Apache.
> However, we *do* need the hand of a capable graphic designer on this one.
> Any volunteer helpers? Feel free to attach your skins as proposals to this
> issue ;-)
