"Inconvenient" would be if you need to repeat the 5 step process all the time.
Typically, a user would set its preferred editor, and not change it all the
time. So this sequence would only occur once.
I agree with Janne, that as soon as the "intermediate save" feature is
available, it could be useful to bring the editor-switch back to the editor
page.
=> Suggest to keep this open for the time being, and list it as candidate for
v3.1.
