Yes, simplicity is important. I mentioned WordPress with that notion in mind.
Also, you are correct to say that we'd integrate with the workflow classes. If
you have a place to save drafts, you can then make page-save workflows much
more lightweight. That means you can finally persist them.
It's fair to say that the "drafts" feature is a prerequisite of persistent
workflows.
