It appears that my best course of action may be to upgrade. I just had so many issues with setting up the security initially that I was hoping to avoid re-installing, but I don't think I have much choice at this point.

The latest 2.5 should be a lot easier with security setup, as it no longer needs signed JAR files and other doodah like that. So you *should* be fine.
BTW, the latest nightly build is recommended; it's even stabler than our beta.
