Dear Gary, It seems of some importance to me to consider the practical value of desinvolture. Whether it contains principles of the right way how to live or not depends mainly on the reader. I think, there are certain paralleles to Carlos Castaneda`s "Teaching of Don Juan". It is said that whatever you "must" do...do it but be aware that it leads you to nothing. Well, all you do is hardly more but endless fooliness. Once realized it is hard to be involved any longer as all loses its importance and becomes one...becomes nothing. It seems to me the last step on a way which Juenger goes as well...but very few meters only compared to Don Juan. Anyway, Juenger is physically caught in time and circumstances but he`s psychologically free to an extent. Doubtless, his desinvolture makes him live a better life, maybe even survive. I think, his desinvolture might seem like a loss of "humanism" from time to time. But who knows, loss might be gain sometimes. Gary, am I wrong or didn`t I answer your question? Well, to put it briefly- I`m convinced that practiced desinvolture would help ourselves to come back to life at its most elemental aspects. 5 advices are maybe; 1st) Be yourself! 2nd) Don`t let everybody know WHO you are! 3rd) Observe ! 4th) Don`t judge but understand! 5th) Maintain your distance!etc...... Your comentaries about escape from the power trough the time have impressed me- german its a very difficult language, but the text desserves my efforts.I think we must discuss in that direction. Finally desinvolture appears to me like normal life. Let think of this: What does a doctor have with his patients? He must have a certain desinvolture in order to be frre to desarrollate all his talents with the pacient. Almost profession required a certain grade of desinvolture. More over, desinvolture seems to be the only way to survive, to not get in madness in actul world. Especialmente la de ulrich, aunque tengo que decir que el aleman me parece terriblemente dificl, pero ha merecido la pena. La cuestion que trata sobre escapar a las garras del poder, permaneciendo alejado de en el tiempo, y no en el espacio, como hasta ahora se venia haciendo me parece especialmente interesante, deberias indagar sobre ella. Finalmente tengo que decir que desinvolture me parece ne cierto modo equivalente a vida. Pensemos un instante sobre esto: que es lo que hace un doctor con sus pacientes, que tipo de relacion mantiene con ellos,? Esta distancia le permite mantener en su nivel maximo sus cualidades como sanador. casi todas las professiones, y las acciones, tienen algo de desinvolture. mas aun, la desinvolture parece le unico sistenma fiable de supervivencia, la unica forma de evitar volverse loco en este mundo terrible, que accelera a gran velocidad. Es esta extraña actitud la que nos permite seguir luchando cuando nuestro hermano, nuestro amigo yace muerto y desangrado a nuestro lado.
