Thank you, Tony. You give a kind of information that I wish I could get more reliably within groups such as the JUG.

Sometimes it almost seems to me like there is a conspiracy of silence about our warts in the communities in which I participate (Java, Linux, open source). We do not tell each other often enough about the bad aspects of the technologies, tools, and services available to us. As a consequence, it is too easy for a developer to form unrealistic hopes about the usefulness of some technology, and thus to waist his time trying to use an immature technology.

I wish we had some systematic way of organizing and presenting reliable reports of experience with the technologies, tools, and services which we come across in our work.
