nope. nothing works. I guess graphics are impossible in an application.
Graphics in applications (and applets) most certainly DOES work. I've been doing it (on and off) since 1996. Never had an occasion where I could not get what I needed to work. However, the sample code you posted shows that you need to get a better understanding of the basic APIs and how to use them. There are lots of resources and sample code online...but I would recommend a good book, such as one of the Java series from Sun or the "Core..." series from Prentice Hall. They will be full of examples and will help you grasp the fundamentals.
