Alas, yes. I've seen equally ridiculous responses, meant entirely seriously, in similar contexts before.

My sarcasm-filter has been permanently fractured by the overwhelming amount of terminal cluelessness available on the 'net. Apologies to the OP if he was being sarcastic in this instance.
