Abstract: Aspect-oriented programming (AOP) compliments object-oriented programming by empowering the modularization of crosscutting concerns, repeated code scattered throughout an application. Unlike their "cut and paste" brethren, identifying crosscutting concerns typically isn't as simple as looking for the same code repeated verbatim in several places. Bob introduces _dynaop_ and illustrates how AOP can increase reusability, further decompose solutions, reduce dependencies, and enable developers to work more concurrently.

About the Speaker: Bob Lee is an architect at SBC, independent consultant, a co-author of Manning's Bitter EJB, and an AOP evangelist. Frustrated by limitations in OOP and EJB, Bob created dynaop, a simple, lightweight Java AOP framework geared toward application developers. He maintains a weblog on java.net.

DIRECTIONS to MCNC: *From Raleigh:* Take I-40 West toward Durham and Chapel Hill. You will enter RTP. Where I-40 splits, bear right onto the Durham Freeway North (Highway 147). Take the Cornwallis Road Exit. At the end of the exit ramp, bear right - cross back over the Freeway. MCNC is located approximately 3/4 mile on the right.
