Re: proactive developers - you can either be one, or lose your ability to compete with the rest of us that are. Take your pick. Do not stagnate.
Agreed. The tough part is choosing what new technologies to allocate time and energy to learning. I'd say more about that, but I have homework to do right now. :-)
