Triangle Java Users Group Presents:

Architecting and Developing J2EE Applications Using Patterns

presented by Bobby Woolf

Monday, February 21, 2005
6:30 PM - 9:00 PM

4001 E. Chapel Hill-Nelson Highway
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

Abstract:
J2EE is a sophisticated application development platform that provides a
multitude of services and capabilities for application developers, but
that range of features also causes confusion, which often leads to
unnecessarily complex application architectures. In this talk, you will
learn how to take advantage of J2EE's capabilities to develop a simple yet
robust architecture suitable for most enterprise applications. This talk
explores the goals of a solid application architecture that meets today's
demanding business requirements--such as scalability, high availability,
and a service-oriented architecture (SOA). It then uses patterns from
popular books to develop an application architecture that meets these
goals and is at least an appropriate starting point for most enterprise
application projects. It then shows how this architecture can be leveraged
for common uses such as web- and Java-based GUIs, messaging/JMS
integration, and Web services.

About the Speaker:
Bobby Woolf is a member of the IBM Software Services for WebSphere
