My times are like Chistoper's. Richard, what speed machine are you running? How much memory? I suspect the times you are seeing are a result of a slower machine running JavaScript, etc on your local machine, in addition to your anti-viral software and other programs you have running. Jared Ship It! is shipping! http://www.pragmaticprogrammer.com/titles/prj/ http://www.jaredrichardson.net/

My brief experiment indicates the slowdown is on your end.
IBM: 3.875 sec (total size = 176,346 bytes)
Sun: 5.838 sec (total size = 342,310 bytes)
DJ: 7.651 sec (total size = 699,191 bytes) 468k of that in a single
shockwave animation that should allow your browser to render (and report
done) long before the file finished loading)
WP: 14.190 sec (total size = 376,000 bytes) not including the 882k movie
All of these were measure with cleared browser caches - so if you frequent
these sites, they should be even faster for you.
