Same here except TWC's slow DNS took forever. Tell you who was slow: microsoft.com. They seem to have added a lot of external connects and some redirects. (which probably means that DNS had more fun) I'm too lazy to set up caching DNS without being paid to do so... ;-)

For instance, I just timed how long, after I type ibm.com into my address bar and hit enter, until all the whiz-bangs finish arriving: 12 seconds. Sun.com: 26 seconds. Dowjones.com: 23 seconds. WashingtonPost.com: 12 seconds.

I am guessing that the bottleneck is not in my connection to the Internet, since I download through Sprint residential ADSL at around 300

My brief experiment indicates the slowdown is on your end.
IBM: 3.875 sec (total size = 176,346 bytes)
Sun: 5.838 sec (total size = 342,310 bytes)
DJ: 7.651 sec (total size = 699,191 bytes) 468k of that in a single
shockwave animation that should allow your browser to render (and report
done) long before the file finished loading)
WP: 14.190 sec (total size = 376,000 bytes) not including the 882k movie

All of these were measure with cleared browser caches - so if you frequent
these sites, they should be even faster for you.
