Discouraging descriptive names for variables and functions seems like a bad 
idea. The example of isna illustrates this. Does isna mean that some item 
is not available (perhaps because of a data collection problem) or does it 
mean that the item was not intended to be present (with na having the sense 
of "not applicable")?
