Indeed, I am running OS X 10.6.8 on a 4 years old iMac (64-bit), no chance to update. Up to now I was not able to generate any graphics with Julia, partly because Homebrew is not working, etc. Maybe, all this is a good reason to upgrade the hardware sometime this year.
