That's probably because `*(1,1)` is applying the *function* `*` to the arguments `1,1`, rather than doing something on a tuple `(1,1)`.It *is* possible to do this with the arguments coming from a tuple via splatting, e.g. `*(t...)`, but I get the feeling that this might not be what you're after.
