The writemime methods and the display system are largely orthogonal – the display system concerns itself with routing output to a suitable display device (terminal, Blink window, whatever) while writemime simply provides the implementation. In other words, I'm only really focused on the `display` function, and that work looks completely compatible with my proposed changes.
