Two give my two cents: I think this is an inconsistency in the design of the standard library. * while we have both I and eye available for the Identity matrix, * linspace was replaced with a lazy data-structure.
Personally I would like to keep both I and eye; but I also would have liked to keep the old linspace behaviour.
