I must admit I have trouble following the discussion on this list with 
this amount of activity going on. ;-)

We would definitely like to to that but we are still on the lookout for 
funding. Possibly we can start working on this pretty soon, but then we 
would like to do this as part of OpenJUMP and together with the 
community - if there is interest.
Meanwhile: if there are plans on implementing a complex feature model in 
OpenJUMP, it might be a good idea to have a look at the deegree2 Feature 
Model.
