I did this test
1) load ECW file (OpenJUMP NB 20071018 with embedded
Ermapper DLL)
2) create a new file
3) draw a polygon that cover almost the entire ECW
file
4) zoom in to a point
After zooming the ECW disapears from the layer view
and it is impossible to see it back
