wrt deactivate snapping: please, everybody.. please try it out first and 
comment after, so you know what i implemented. i explained it earlier, but 
nothing beats the personal experience ;)

in short: i'd implement kosmo's permanent switching of snapping options but in 
addition we have the new "disable snapping temporarily while spacebar is kept 
pressed" option.
