Hello list, I'm speccing out a replacement for our aging M10i platform. We're pulling about 3.5Gbps in from our transit providers and sending about 0.5 out. I expect to see this increase to around 10 inbound in the short-term and possibly go to 20 over the next couple of years.
I'm looking at the MX80 platform, specifically the model that has 48 electrical GigE ports baked in as opposed to taking MICs. However I've been told that this version doesn't have ASICs and does all of its forwarding in software. Does anyone have any thoughts on the real-world performance of this box? Would it suffice for the traffic levels I'm talking about?
