Hi list,
We have used M40s and currently use M10s on our network. They have worked very well for us over the years. BGP/OSPF/etc.. Pretty basic stuff compared to what others here on the list do. A rock solid experience. We have talked with Juniper and discussed replacing them with MX80s and MX480s which I am quite excited about. I am heavily biased towards them. We also have a relationship with Huawei over the years because we use their Optix Metro Sonet gear. I will freely admit this was also a good experience and they have done well for us but it was a learn on your own experience for the most part. Thus Huawei has proposed we take a look at their NE40E routers. The pricing they are giving us on these routers are making my boss get VERY interested. I do not have a demo model yet and doing research online is presenting me with typical documentation that I learned was quite useless when using their sonet gear and no real community that I can find like this mailing list to ask questions. http://www.huawei.com/enterprise/ne40e-router.do http://www.huawei.com/enterprise/documentation-ne40e.do Basically I am asking the list if they know many reasons why Juniper routers are superior to these Huawei routers. Why I would be crazy to even consider them! Perhaps users here have experience with them and wished they would have chosen Juniper or dumped them completely for Juniper. I basically need to explain why Juniper is the better choice even when I can get two NE40E-X3(X8) for the same price of a single MX280/480. I see things like that the NE40E-X3 has a max amount of RAM that is 2 gigs. That strikes me as a MX80 type limitation while the box is about the same size as a MX240. The NE40E-X8 has a limit of 4 GB of ram. The one thing that always seem to have bitten us with our M40s/10s was the amount of RAM over the years. I could really use some help here to convince my boss that Juniper is really the way to go from users on this list that have taken a look at Huawei's routers and felt that Juniper was the clear winner. It would save me a lot of time when I am on a call with a Huawei engineer to discuss his boxes. Thank you very much, [email protected] _______________________________________________ juniper-nsp mailing list [email protected] https://puck.nether.net/mailman/listinfo/juniper-nsp
