Hello David, on Data Science Experience, we call them "versions". When somebody shares a link to or schedules execution of a notebook, it's the last version/checkpoint that will be rendered or executed by default. Users can continue to edit and save their notebooks, that doesn't change what's shared or executed. Once they have completed the next round of work, they save a new version/checkpoint.
