Hello,
It's been a while since I've written a personal update on my life, so
here goes for anyone who is interested.
I think I mentioned I went to see my family, including my sister a
couple weeks ago. Well, I only spent a couple of hours in the four days
I was there with Mel. But I did see a lot of people. I got to spend a
lot of time with my brother's kids for a change, and that was really
nifty. My dad decided that since I don't come up very often that he
would throw a cookout party for me and invite the family. So my younger
sister also came with her almost one-year-old baby as well. She made
the best peanut butter pe I've ever eaten.
We've had no real rain to speak of for months. A couple weeks ago it
rained for like 15 minutes. I went on a picnic last Sunday, and the
grass felt like straw.
Work has been busy. Usually summers are kind of dead, but this has been
far from the case. I am brailling my final document in Swahili today,
and I am very grateful to Skype and Facebook and the friends I have
there, which allowed me to connect with a blind lady in Kenya who
advised me about the correct way to produce Swahili braille.
Our newest client starts classes July 9. The high school where this
person attended apparently had no technology, or very little. The
client has never submitted a print assignment before, and doesn't have
an e-mail address. So starting in two days, I will be training her on
how to do all these things with JAWS. I am so incredibly shocked at
what a disservice the high school this client attended did to the
client. So in the meatime while I'm training her, I will have to put
everything in braille for her, and part of the materials aren't ready
yet.
Otherwise, I've been lstening to some pretty good books in the fantasy
and romance genres, mostly. And I got my first apricots of the summer.
