Hi Lynne,
Lynne writes:
(?) No, you didn't mention that as far as I know. How is Mel and why
isn't she emailing lately? :)
Well, Mel has been going through some rough times with her fibromialgia
and getting ready to move. My mom and other members of my family
treated her like crud when Kevin found out he would be working in
Detroit, but then he found another job in a city still in Indiana that
doesn't have the kind of reputation that Detroit does. So now she (for
the most part, because Kevin has already started work and is now living
in the new city) is left to sort out everything, pack, and watch the
kids. If she comes online at all, it's usually at 10:30 or so at night,
after the kids and her mother-in-law has gone to bed. Her mom-in-law is
driving the kids to summer activities. She downloads books so she can
work out or do laundry and listen to stuff, occasinally plays a game
with me, and talks to Kevin on Skype. That's about all she has found
time for. I know she thinks about you guys a lot. I know she isn't
intentionally not writing you.
(?) We've had nothing but rain. Our reservoirs are full to the brim and
we've had a couple of floods. Nothing like those poor people in Wales
have had, but bad enough. And yet we still read about those greedy
people down here in the South of England, crying out for our water.
The water companies have even laid pipelines now to pump water from
our reservoirs down to those in the South. Then they expect us to
foot the bill!
I am sorry to hear that.
(?) That's amazing, in this day and age.
Yeah, and completely illegal. But if the parents didn't advocate for
her, I guess the school could get away with waiving eveything for her
and not spending the money it would take to educate a blind child.
(?) Wimbledon, Mary, no "W". :) Actually Wimbledon is just a district of
London. So technically, you would be more accurate saying that Lynne
and Gordon, (and Tracy) are in London, for the Wimbledon tennis
championships. It's lovely to be able to spent time with Leonard and
Joyce again.
Dang it! Why do I always put a w in there? lol
(?) Gordon, Tracy and I came down here to Wimbledon (London SW) last
Sunday. We're staying in a luxurious hotel suite, paid for at their
insistence by our American friends Leonard and Joyce. They are lovely
lovely people and it's really nice that they now live close to us
here in the UK. They came to spend Christmas with us the year before
last, fell in love with the place and sold their house in Miami
Beach, Florida, and migrated.
I am so glad you get to see your friends again.
(?) But hold it; things took an unexpected turn on Tuesday when I got a
panic-stricken phone call from work. There had been an awful muddle
with the checks on temporary staff for the summer holidays, and I had
to travel back up North to sort it out, leaving Gordon and Tracy here
in London. I got back here just a few hours ago, having sorted things
out. Gordon is having another of his bad nights, so we're still
sitting up with him at 03:07 in the morning. He told us to go to bed;
but how can we rest, (Tracy and I), knowing he's having problems.
I don't think I'd be able to rest, either. I do hope that when you guys
get home, the meds can get sorted out so that they are more effective.
(?) Oh, just one more thing on the good side. Gordon has been
short-listed for a Brailleist job. It would only be 14 hours a week
during term time at an academy in Middlesbrough. But that's
absolutely fine for him; I'm sure he could do the job. They want
somebody to prepare resources for their visually impaired students,
so Mary; is it alright if Gordon liaises with you privately if he
gets the job?
Sure thing! I would be happy if I can help.
Mary
