I am glad, too. The replacement serial converter arrived
at our house Wednesday and I hooked it up and it just worked
like it should. Sometimes, one needs to hunt for drivers or even
worse things happen, but the Linux system showed all 8 tty ports
or comm ports as they are called in DOS/Windows and every one I
have tried so far are quite alive and stuff works again.
It was the least expensive thing to die, also so I was
lucky.
